Boost for Community Safety
Community safety in South Tyneside has been given a boost thanks to new cutting-edge CCTV technology.
Cameras at 10 locations across the borough are being upgraded from analogue to high-resolution digital devices.
The new smart technology will ensure compatibility with the wider CCTV network systems and provide superior image quality.

Cllr Jim Foreman, Lead Member for Housing and Community Safety, said: “CCTV is a vital tool in helping our residents feel safe and secure.
“As well as acting as a deterrent and helping detect crime and anti-social behaviour, they can also help us monitor and manage events in real time and assist the emergency services.
“This state-of-the-art technology is replacing older, outdated cameras to provide better image quality and enhanced night-time vision.
“Creating strong communities, where people live in safe neighborhoods, is one of the council’s five ambitions and tackling crime and anti-social behaviour is key to realising that.”
