Prospective apprentices are invited to ‘Get up and Go’ to a week of dedicated events in North Tyneside

Hundreds of opportunities will be on display for prospective apprentices in North Tyneside this National Apprenticeship Week, from February 6 to 12.

National Apprenticeship Week champions all things apprentices, celebrating their achievements and shining a light on the many ways that they can enrich communities.

The week-long celebration boasts a varied programme of events coordinated by North Tyneside Council and promises to showcase the many benefits of choosing an apprenticeship for learners.

Daily events are due to take place at the Working Well hub in the Beacon Centre, North Shields. These events will feature a range of employers and providers; visitors can hear from the likes of Northumbria Healthcare, Hays Travel, North Tyneside Council, and other businesses with local opportunities for apprentices.

The week will culminate with the return of the popular ‘Get up and Go’ apprenticeship fair, hosted by North Tyneside Council’s Employment and Skills service. Featuring more than 30 exhibitors representing a range of occupations and sectors, the event offers those interested in finding out more about apprenticeships the perfect opportunity to learn about what’s on offer in North Tyneside.

The event is aimed primarily at young people leaving school or college this summer but is equally open to anyone looking to find out more about apprenticeships.

The fair will take place on Saturday 11 February between 9:30am and 12:30pm at The Quadrant, Cobalt Business Park, NE27 0BY. Young people, parents and carers, or anyone who is interested in apprenticeships, can drop by the fair at any point during the session and for any length of time.

Councillor Hannah Johnson, Cabinet member responsible for Employment and Skills at North Tyneside Council, said: “I’m thrilled that we are once again supporting young people in North Tyneside to learn about and access local apprenticeships.

“Apprenticeships can be such a rewarding route into employment for young people; they offer on the job experience and learning, and result in real qualifications that can be used throughout an individual’s professional life and career.

“I’d really encourage anyone who is interested in an apprenticeship to come along to our ‘Get up and Go’ event. It’s a fantastic opportunity to meet directly with leading apprenticeship providers in our borough and find out how to get started on the path to employment.”
